The Season Is Here

It's basketball season in Columbia. Oh don't worry, we are all looking forward to the Tiger Football game in College Station, Texas, on Saturday, and the Mizzou Basketball program will watch the game in between a pair of Saturday practices, but it's hard not to get excited about hoops since practice starts this afternoon at 5 p.m. inside Mizzou Arena.

Preseason rankings are coming out of course. Jeff Goodman has the Tigers ranked #9 nationally in his preseason poll. Since Sports Illustrated has called and been on the phone with Marcus Denmon, Kim English and Coach A, I imagine the Tigers will be highly thought of in their preseason hoops edition as well.

Speaking of Jeff Goodman, he will be in Columbia this weekend to take in a Tiger practice. Jeff does a great job of covering college hoops nationally for Fox Sports and will come to Columbia as well as swing through Manhattan, some town to the west that begins with an L, Champaign, West Lafayette, Memphis and others.

On Tuesday of this week Mizzou hosted its local media day and next week Coach Anderson and selected players will go to Kansas City for Big 12 Media Day at the Sprint Center. It was our largest turnout of media for our local media gathering since I have been at Mizzou. Needless to say, the buzz is high surrounding this team.

Tiger fans, be sure to come out to the 2010 Black & Gold Game on Oct. 28. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., but doors will open at 6 p.m. Parking is free, tickets are just $5 and free to students. The club will be signing autographs on the concourse.
